Breeding Ponies of Quality and Colour

Dewsnap Ponies

We are a small family run setup in the beautiful settings of High Peak. We breed for ourselves as a hobby and for the theraputic quality handling and breeding horses has for myself. Each year we breed a small number of foals to bring on as true family members suitable for children and all ridden and driven actitvities, it is important to us that not only do our ponies have the qualities for the showring but also the qualities to be a childs best friend.

We believe that the key to a true family pony is to bring each foal up in a family environment and introduce them to children, dogs and so on from an early age so it becomes a part of thier normal everyday lives, properly preparing them for thier futures. My own son is involved in the daily handling of the ponies and regularly helps with grooming, feeding and even poo picking! We feel it is vitally important that all the ponies learn to respect and trust the smallest of children and the result of this is ponies who are safe for your children to be around both in the stable and field.

We strive to breed quality without compromising temprament and rideability.

Please note, we are moving on 26th April 2009. We will now be based in the High Peak near Whaley Bridge.

I’ll lend you for a little while a horse of mine, god said, For you to love while she’s alive, and mourn for when she’s dead.
It may be for ten or twenty years, or maybe more than these, But will you, till I call her back, care for her, for me?
She’ll bring you joy to gladden you, and should her stay be brief, You shall have her memories, and solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, for all on earth return, But there are lessons taught down there, I want this horse to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over, in my search for teachers true, And from all the throngs that crowd life’s lanes, I have selected you.
Will you give her all your love, and not think the labour in vain? Nor hate me when I come to call, and take her back again?
Will you shelter her with tenderness, and love her while you may? And for all the happiness you have known, forever grateful stay?
But should the angels call for her, much sooner than you planned, Brave the bitter grief that comes, and please try to understand...
